This policy explains what personal information MyCormorant handles, why, and the choices you have. MyCormorant is operated by Chequebutt Pty Ltd. If anything is unclear, email mycormorant@chequebutt.com.au.
When you create an account, we collect your email address.
When you use the app, we collect:
The following stay on your device only and are never sent to us or any third party:
We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA/AAID), trackers, or third-party analytics. We do not collect any data we do not need.
Your data is used to:
We never sell, rent or trade your personal data. We do not send marketing emails. Your email address is used only to send you a sign-in link.
Your account data lives in Australia. The Supabase project that backs MyCormorant AU is hosted in the Sydney region — your email, catches, trips, vessels and preferences are stored there, encrypted in transit (HTTPS / TLS) and at rest.
Photos and voice notes live on your device and are removed when you delete the related catch, uninstall the app, or clear app data. We never upload them.
Some processing — specifically AI Intel generation and the scraping of public agency pages for fishery advisories — happens via third-party services that may process data outside Australia. We send those services only public, non-personal inputs (your zone name and target species for AI Intel; public agency URLs for advisory scraping). No account identifiers, catches or trips leave the Australian region.
To run the app we use the following third-party services. Each receives only what's needed to perform its function and is bound by its own privacy obligations.
None of these providers receive marketing access to your data. We don't sell, rent or trade any of it. If a provider's region matters to you and you'd rather not use the affected features, you can avoid them (e.g. don't tap "Get AI Intel") — the core forecast works without them.
You can at any time:
If you need help with any of these, email mycormorant@chequebutt.com.au.
MyCormorant is intended for users aged 16 and over. Younger fishers aged 13 to 15 are welcome to use the app under their parent or guardian's account — the parent should set up the account, accept this policy on their behalf, and supervise use.
MyCormorant is not for use by anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13 in any circumstances. If you believe an under-16 has set up their own account, or that anyone under 13 has been signed in, email mycormorant@chequebutt.com.au and we will delete the account.
We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data, including encrypted transport, per-user access controls, and passwordless email sign-in.
If we become aware of unauthorised access to your data, we will notify affected users and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required under the Australian Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
We will date any material changes at the top of this page. Continued use after a change indicates acceptance; you can delete your account at any time if you disagree.
MyCormorant uses data and tools provided by the following parties. Their data is used in accordance with their licence terms; on-screen credits appear next to the data where required.
